Solving The High Energy Evolution Equation Including Running Coupling Corrections

چکیده
We study the solution of the nonlinear BK evolution equation with the recently calculated running coupling corrections [1, 2]. Performing a numerical solution we confirm the earlier result of [3] (obtained by exploring several possible scales for the running coupling) that the high energy evolution with the running coupling leads to a universal scaling behavior for the dipole-nucleus scattering amplitude, which is independent of the initial conditions. It is important to stress that the running coupling corrections calculated recently significantly change the shape of the scaling function as compared to the fixed coupling case, in particular leading to a considerable increase in the anomalous dimension and to a slow-down of the evolution with rapidity. We then concentrate on elucidating the differences between the two recent calculations of the running coupling corrections. We explain that the difference is due to an extra contribution to the evolution kernel, referred to as the subtraction term, which arises when running coupling corrections are included. These subtraction terms were neglected in both recent calculations. We evaluate numerically the subtraction terms for both calculations, and demonstrate that when the subtraction terms are added back to the evolution kernels obtained in the two works the resulting dipole amplitudes agree with each other! We then use the complete running coupling kernel including the subtraction term to find the numerical solution of the resulting full non-linear evolution equation with the running coupling corrections. Again the scaling regime is recovered at very large rapidity with the scaling function unaltered by the subtraction term. e-mail: [email protected] e-mail: [email protected]

متن کاملFactorization and Resummation of Small x Scaling Violations with Running Coupling
We discuss the inclusion of running coupling effects in perturbative small x evolution equations. We show that a running coupling BFKL–like x–evolution equation is fully compatible, up to higher twist corrections, with the standard factorized perturbative evolution of parton distributions. We then use this result, combined with the well–known Airy asymptotics, to prove that the oscillations whi...
متن کاملAn Anomalous Dimension for Small x Evolution
We construct an anomalous dimension for small x evolution which goes beyond standard fixed order perturbative evolution by including resummed small x logarithms deduced from the leading order BFKL equation with running coupling. Surprisingly, we find that once running coupling effects are properly taken into account, the leading approximation is very close to standard perturbative evolution in ...
متن کاملSolving the BFKL Equation with Running Coupling
We describe a formalism for solving the BFKL equation with a coupling that runs for momenta above a certain infrared cutoff. By suitably choosing matching conditions proper account is taken of the fact that the BFKL diffusion implies that the solution in the infrared (fixed coupling) regime depends upon the solution in the ultraviolet (running coupling) regime and vice versa. Expanding the BFKL...
متن کاملPomeron loop and running coupling effects in high energy QCD evolution
Within the framework of a (1+1)–dimensional model which mimics evolution and scattering in QCD at high energy, we study the influence of the running of the coupling on the high–energy dynamics with Pomeron loops. We find that the particle number fluctuations are strongly suppressed by the running of the coupling, by at least one order of magnitude as compared to the case of a fixed coupling, fo...
